The Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports has sanctioned over 11.15 crore rupees as a central assistance to the Sports Authority of Andhra Pradesh for this month. According to an official release, the assistance has been sanctioned for organising Lower Level Rural Competitions under Panchayat Yuva Krida Aur Khel Abhiyan -PYKKA for the year 2012-13.Under the scheme, which was introduced in 2008-09, playfields are developed and maintained at villages and block panchayats across the country in a phased manner and competitions are conducted annually at block, district, state and national level. In the last four years, 51,759 village panchayats and 1,538 block panchayats have been covered under the PYKKA Scheme.
