Govt rejects allegations against Chidambaram in 2G case

The government has categorically rejected all allegations against the Home Minister, Mr. P.Chidambaram on 2G Spectrum allocation issue. Talking to reporters in New Delhi today the Telecom Minister, Mr. Kapil Sibal said that the NDA and some other individuals are making an attempt to malign and defame Mr. Chidambaram.

Mr. Sibal said that all the allocations were based on TRAI recommendations on the ground that there should be a level playing field for new entrants.

Mr. Sibal asserted that it is clear from the sequence of events that Mr. Chidambaram, the then Finance Minister, was in no way responsible for the issue of contract on January 10, 2008 or of the charging of entry fee of about 1650 crore rupees.
