Govt rejects allegation against Pranab on office of profit issue

Government has rejected allegations that UPA Presidential candidate and former Finance Minister Mr. Pranab Mukherjee was holding an office of profit while filing nomination for Presidential election.

Talking to reporters in New Delhi on Monday, the Parliamentary Affairs Minister and UPA Presidential candidate's poll Manager Mr. Pawan Kumar Bansal clarified that the allegation is factually incorrect and legally inconceived.

AIR correspondent reports that NDA's Presidential nominee, Mr. P.A. Sangma had made a written complaint to the Returning officer saying that Mr. Pranab Mukherjee's nomination papers may not be accepted as he was holding an office of profit.

Meanwhile, Indian Statistical Institute has clarified that Mr. Mukherjee had resigned on 20th of last month but the website was not updated accordingly.
