Govt receives names of 18 former judges for appointment in 4 high courts

The government has received names of 18 former judges for appointment in four high courts, days after the executive and the judiciary agreed to invoke an extraordinary provision of the Constitution to post retired judges to fight rising pendency. <br/><br/>Quoting sources news agency PTI reports that 18 names have been received from the high courts of Andhra Pradesh & Telangana, Madhya Pradesh, Allahabad and Calcutta. Sources said, the names are under process.<br/><br/>The government and the Judiciary have agreed for an extraordinary provision of the Constitution, which can now be invoked to appoint retired judges with proven integrity and track record as judges of high courts to tackle rising pendency.
