Government is ready to refer Citizenship (amendment) bill 2016 to Joint Committee of both houses. Home Minister Rajnath Singh told Lok Sabha that he agrees with views of the members as it is a very important bill. The bill is listed in today's business for consideration and passing by the House. <br/><br/>Earlier Bharthari Mehtab of BJD said this bill needs proper scrutiny. Jyotiradiya Scindia of Congress, Mohammad Saleem of CPM and Sudip Bandopadhaya of TMC also echoed the same views. The bill pertains to granting citizenship to migrants from neighbouring countries.
