The Government said, it is willing to hold any inquiry into the alleged corruption in the Commonwealth Games related projects after the games are over. Not satisfied with the reply, most of the opposition parties staged a walkout in the Lok Sabha even as the Minister for Sports and Youth Affairs, Dr M S Gill was replying to the discussion on the issue. Dr Gill, said work in all the major stadia have been completed and called on the members to shift their focus on the players and the games now. He said that it is the question of the prestige of the country and everybody should try to ensure that the games are conducted successfully.Rebutting opposition charges that huge amounts have been spent on the renovation of the stadia, the Minister said the venues, which were constructed long back are as good as new ones and their grandeur is seen to be believed. The BJP members took serious exception to a remark by the Minister that more information can be sought through the Right to Information (RTI). Leader of the Opposition Sushma Swaraj wondered whether RTI provision is above Parliament and the entire NDA walked out of the house. The members belonging to Samajwadi Party, also walked out later when they did not get any assurance from the Minister on a JPC inquiry into the issue.
