The governmen today said that it is willing to ask the CBI to look into charges of irregularities by state agencies involved in Commonwealth Games projects . The Minister of Urban Development Mr Jaipal Reddy also accused the Opposition of projecting incorrect figures on the expenditure incurred for the mega event. He said that each of the allegations will be looked into. He also said CWG Organising Committee, which has been facing allegations of corruption, should not be confused with government agencies as it is totally independent. The issue of alleged large-scale corruption in CWG projects had created a furore in the Lok Sabha today with the opposition attacking the government on allowing squandering and loot public money. The Left demanded a Joint Parliamentary Committee (JPC) to probe the charges. Mr Jaipal Reddy who heads the Group of Ministers on the Games, was not allowed to respond to the charges by the opposition, which wanted the reply only after a full-fledged debate.Earlier raising the issue, CPI leader Mr Gurudas Dasgupta said that huge amounts of money, in excess of legitimate expenditure are being spent on the building and renovation of the stadia and the construction is also below the standard. The samajwadi party members who staged a walk out wanted the Prime Minister to respond to the issue. Meanwhile elaborate arrangements including round-the-clock health care facilities will be provided at all the avenues of the Commonwealth Games in Delhi. Replying to questions in the Lok Sabha today, the Health and Family Welfare Minister, Mr. Ghulam Nabi Azad, said that dedicated polyclinics with all the medical facilities and the state-of-art equipment, will be set up in the Games village. He said a 240-strong team of doctors as well as ambulances, para-medical staff and OPD facilities will be deployed. Medical centres will also be set up in every Stadium with doctors, nurses and para-medical staff. The Minister said several hospitals in the capital have been identified to cater to any exigency. He said that public health action plan has also been chalked out by the Delhi government. He said surveillance agencies will be in place for outbreak of any disease. Mr Azad said Rapid Response Teams will also be deployed as a part of disaster management. He said health facilities will also be available for the spectators as well as at non-playing centres like media centres. He said due care is also taken with regard to food safety and international standard food will be made available.
