The Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs, CCEA on Wednesday approved exporting twenty five lakh tonnes of wheat. The CCEA also approved 12.5 percent disinvestment in Rashtriya Chemicals and Fertilisers Limited. Briefing the media in New Delhi this afternoon, Finance Minister P. Chidambaram said this will make the company compliant with SEBI norms. Regarding allocation of foodgrains to Uttar Pradesh government for the upcoming Kumbh Mela, Mr. Chidambaram said additional 16,200 tonnes of wheat and 9,600 tonnes of rice at BPL prices. He said this will be additional to the already announced 800 crore rupees special grant to the State by the Centre. The Union Cabinet also approved a proposal of Shipping Ministry for licensing of land to the concessionaires for seven projects under the Public Private Partnership, PPP mode. This will facilitate in augmenting the capacity of ports expeditiously through PPP. It will also bring efficiency in operations at major ports which will benefit trade and the economy as a whole.
