The government today raised the export price of onion by 30 US dollar per tonne to 230 US dollar a tonne. The decision to this effect was taken to discourage shipment of the kitchen staple outside the country.According to Directorate General of Foreign Trade -DGFT, however, the Minimum Export Price of two superior varieties–Krishnapuram and Bangalore Rose has been kept unchanged at 350 US dollar per tonne. Last month the government had raised the export price of onion to 200 US dollar a tonne from 170 US dollar per tonne.
