The Government is providing all support to Indian expatriates in Saudi Arabia to tackle the humanitarian impact of the Nitaqat program providing jobs for Saudi graduates.Speaking to the media External Affairs ministry spokesperson Syed Akbaruddin said, discussions are on between the two countries on the difficulties being faced by Indian employees with regard to the requirements of Saudi law.The Indian Ambasaddor Mr. Hamid Ali Rao met and held talks with Governors of Riyadh, Eastern province and also the Goveror of Medina. Mr. Akbaruddin said, if needed a Senior Minister from India will visit Saudi Arabia to meet the Saudi Arabian labour minister Adel Fakeih.Mr. Akbaruddin said, a 24 X 7 helpline is operative in the embassy to assist Indian expatriates. He said, discussions between India and Saudi Arabia are also on for a labour agreement between the two countries. Electronic attestation of labour contracts is also being explored.Joint Secretary for Gulf, ministry of external affairs, Mr. A. R Ghanshyam said, the number of indians to affected are also expected to be much lesser than thought to be. He said, Indians are a preferred community for employment in the gulf and Nitaqat program also affects the employers as well.
