The government has provided 145 crore rupees for construction of hostel for scheduled castes students to State governments and Union Territories under Babu Jagjivan Ram Chatravas Yojna. The Minister for Social Justice and Empowerment D. Nepoleon informed in a written reply in the Lok Sabha, that the government has provided hundred percent financial assistance for the construction of hostels for girl students. He informed the House that maximum 688 lakh rupees have been provided to Uttar Pradesh for construction of girls hostels during last financial year. He said that a total of 7819 lakh rupees were given as central assistance to the state governments during last financial year under the Yojna.
