Govt proposes scheme of subsidised foodgrains for BPL families in most districts from Oct 2

The government proposes to implement the scheme of giving 35 kilogram of foodgrain at three rupees a kilo to Below Poverty Line and Above poverty line families in nearly three fourth districts of the country from Gandhi Jayanti this year. The issue was discussed in the National Advisory Council meeting after a Group of Ministers deliberated on Food Security draft. Replying to supplementaries in the Rajya Sabha today, Food and public distribution minister Sharad Pawar said the government is committed to provide food for all.
