The government has promised effective measures to ensure increased agriculture production, contain food inflation and provide food subsidy. All India Radio in its second series of news capsule today focuses on expectations of from the people, particularly the farmers as the government is going to present the General Budget on 10th of this month.The Agriculture expert Surinder Sood said that the budget should aim at curbing food inflation. He said the government should allocate more funds to the agriculture sector to stimulate production.As the monsoon is delayed this year the agriculture experts are worried that it can impact the crop production leading to price rise.Gurpreet, a farmer from Punjab is of a view that the government should increase Minimum Support Price to compensate cost of production and also provide diesel subsidy. The centre has already asked the states to de-list fruits and vegetables from Agricultre Produce Market Committee Act. There is also aneed to enhance hi- tech irrigation facilities,supply of good quality fertilizers and allowing usage of hybrid seeds.
