The government has procured 1.11 lakh tonnes of pulses so far from farmers for creating buffer stock and also contracted to import 38,500 tonnes as part of its effort to control the retail prices. Food and Consumer Affairs Ministry in a release said, 51,000 Ton of pulses has been proccurred in Kharif season and 60,000 Ton in Rabi season so far.<br/><br/>This was informed during the inter-ministerial committees meeting held in New Delhi today to review prices of essential commodities. The Meeting was chaired by Secretary Consumer Affairs, Hem Pande. <br/><br/>The Ministry in a release said, about 13,000 Ton imported pulses have reached the country and delivery of about 6,000 Ton pulses is in pipeline. It said, the state governments have been urged repeatedly to seek allocation of pulses from the buffer stock to sell at reasonable prices which should not be more than 120 rupees per kilogram.<br/><br/>Tamil Nadu, Andhra Pradesh, Maharashtra, Rajasthan and Telangana have already been allocated some quantity on receiving their requests. The Ministry also said, NAFED and SFAC have procured 15,635 Ton onions so far.
