Govt prepares action plan for revival of unserved,unused airports: Minister

Government is drawing up an action plan for revival of unserved and unused airports to enhance regional connectivity. Union Minister for Civil Aviation Ashok Gajpati Raju, talking to media in Delhi today, said his ministry will partner with state Governments to develop some of the airports and air strips with state governments to enhance regional connectivity. He also said that 10 of the 25 non-functional air strips with the Airport Authority of India will also be developed. Minister also said Government is keen to develop India as a Maintenance Repair and Overhauling (MRO) hub for aircraft in Asia. The MRO business of Indian carriers is around 5000 crore rupees, 90 percent of which is currently spent outside India.
