Govt. prepares 4 pronged strategy to spur agriculture growth

Government has prepared a four pronged strategy to spur agriculture growth in the country. <br/><br/>It was unveiled by the Finance Minister Mr. Pranab Mukherjee in his budget speech in Parliament. <br/><br/>The important elements of the strategy are boosting agricultural production, reducing its waste, credit support to farmers and thrust on food processing.<br/><br/>The strategy says that 60 thousand more villages will be covered under the cultivation of pulses and oilseeds to bridge the gap between their demand and supply. <br/><br/>An out lay of 300 crore rupees has been provided for the water harvesting and taking care of soil health to enhance productivity in the dry land farming areas.200 crore rupees are proposed to be spent on conservation of farming. <br/><br/>The steps assume importance in view of the rising food inflation in the country.<br/><br/>There is over 46 percent increase for the infrastructure sector. <br/><br/>An amount of 1, 73,552 crore rupees have been earmarked for the sector to speed up growth and create more employment opportunities. <br/><br/>The budget says that disbursement of loan for infrastructure by India Infrastructure Finance Company Ltd(IIFCL) is expected to reach 20,000 crore rupees in the next financial year as against 9,000 crore rupees this year. <br/><br/>The budget has doubled the plan amount for the power sector to over5100 rupees. <br/><br/>A coal regulatory Authority is also being set up for creating level playing field in this sector and resolving issues. <br/><br/>The allocation for the New and Renewable energy is also being increased by a whopping 61 percent to support the ambitious solar energy programme.<br/><br/>AIR correspondent reports that 37 percent of the outlay is being spent on the social sector programmes to ensure inclusive growth. <br/><br/>The programmes include better employment and focussed approach of the programmes aimed at lifting the lot of the poor and the disadvantaged.<br/>
