Govt plans to provide Rs 90000 cr loan to SHGs in next two years

Government has planned to provide loan worth 90 thousand Crore rupees to Women Self-Help Groups for non-farm economic activities in next two years.<br/><br/>Addressing a workshop on Best Practices in National Rural Livelihoods Mission (NRLM) in New Delhi today, Rural Development Secretary, Amarjeet Sinha said that at present 3 crore women are linked to Aajeevika Mission and they availed about 30 thousand crore rupees bank loans for economic activities. NRLM, launched in 2011 is an innovative flagship programme designed to alleviate rural poverty in a time-bound manner.<br/><br/>The centrally sponsored mission is currently being implemented in over three thousand blocks across 462 districts by all states and Union territories. Mr Sinha said, as of last month more than three crore 24 lakh rural poor households stood mobilized into around 27 lakh Self Help Groups. <br/><br/>He said, the mission has made significant progress and has provided a capital grant of about three thousand 170 crores rupees to these groups.<br/><br/>
