The UPA Co-ordination Committee meets in New Delhi today to discuss the Food Security Bill and other issues. The government is also planning to convene an all-party meeting on the issue. The Congress Core Group has also reportedly discussed the passage of the Food Bill.
Meanwhile, the BJP has said, it is not opposed to the passage of the Food Security Bill and favoured an early monsoon session of Parliament.
The Leader of the Opposition in the Lok Sabha, Sushma Swaraj tweeted that the government's reported move to promulgate an ordinance is not desirable for such an important legislation.
She, however, made it clear that the party is not opposed to a special session and suggested that an early convening of the monsoon session would be a better option.
