The government plans to increase the numbers of Centers of Excellence for different sports in the country. Addressing a function to mark 25 year of Nehru Yuva Kendra Sangathan, NYKS, in New Delhi today, Sports minister Jitendra Singh said, recognition of talent at an early age and proper grooming in the areas of interest is a must for further development of sports in the country. He said youth clubs under NYKS will be computerized soon to provide up-to-date information about its programmes in the country. He called for further strengthening such programmes in Jammu and Kashmir, North-East and Naxal affected areas.The minister informed that the Rajiv Gandhi National Institute of Youth Development ,Sriperumbudur, Chennai, Tamil Nadu has been granted status of Institute of National Importance by the Government through an act of Parliament which has come into effect now.
