Government is planning to undertake highway projects worth 1.45 lakh crore Rs. in next two to three years to upgrade infrastructure in the North-East. <br/><br/>Road Transport and Highways Minister Nitin Gadkari said in New Delhi yesterday that government has already taken up many road improvement projects under Special Accelerated Road Development Programme for North-East for better connectivity. <br/><br/>He said this will be along with the setting up of National Highways & Infrastructure Development Corporation Ltd to augment capacity of the agencies involved in development and maintenance of highways in the region.<br/><br/>A total of 197 on-going road development projects are being implemented under various programmes or schemes of the Ministry in the North Eastern States.
