Government is planing to seek bids in October from private players to fix 147 bridges that were identified as distressed. <br/><br/>A senior road ministry official today said, the expenditure proposal is being prepared and they will have the estimated cost of building or rectifying these bridges by end of September. <br/><br/>Earlier this month, Nitin Gadkari, minister for road transport and highways told the parliament that over 100 bridges across the country were on the verge of collapse.<br/><br/>The Integrated Bridge Management System, under the roads ministry, has identified 147 bridges as faulty in its safety audit of over 160,000 bridges. <br/><br/>Our correspondent quoting official sources reports, these bridges will be bid out under Engineering, Procurement and Construction (EPC) mode to ensure speedy completion. <br/><br/>Under the EPC route, the government funds a project while the construction risk is being borne by the developer.
