Govt orders judicial probe into Adarsh scam

Maharashtra Government has announced a judicial probe into Adarsh Housing Society scam. Former Bombay High Court Chief Justice J A Patil will head the two member Commission. Former State Chief Secretary P Subramanian will be the other member of the Commission. Announcing this in Mumbai today Maharashtra Chief Minister Prithviraj Chavan said the commission will submit its report within three months. It will probe all aspects of the alleged irregularities including land ownership and allotment, permissions and environmental violations. The commission will specifically look in to various intricacies relating to the scam which include the violation of the permitted height, alleged non allotment of flats to the family members of the Kargil widows and the role of bureaucrats in the scam. The Chief Minister had already announced about appointing of a judicial commission to probing the scam in last winter session of Legislative council in Nagpur. The alleged irregularities surfaced a few months ago had led to the resignation of Chief Minister Ashok Chavan over the scam.
