Govt orders Court of Inquiry to investigate into MIG 21 crash

Defence ministry has ordered a Court of Inquiry to investigate into the cause of MIG 21 crash in Punjab. One MIG 21 aircraft of IAF crashed near Raikot about 10 kms South of Halwara air base today at about 1125 hrs. <br/><br/>The pilot ,however, ejected safely. An IAF spokesperson said in New Delhi, the pilot had flown the plane from Pathankot air base for a routine armament training sortie at the range in Halwara when the mishap occurred. <br/><br/>AIR correspondent reports, with today's crash, the IAF has lost three fighter jet planes this year. It had lost a MiG-27 warplane on 16th of February in a crash near Hashimara and a MiG-21 Type-77 fighter aircraft on 19th in the same month at Bagdogra, both in West Bengal.
