Finance Minster Arun Jaitley today said that the government is open for any suggestion to make further improvement in the Goods and Services Tax, GST Constitutional Amendment Bill. Briefing the Parliamentary Consultative Committee about his meeting with the Empowered committee of States Finance Ministers on GST, Mr Jaitley said it is a continuing process which will further evolve and improve with time. He also said the Government is in favour of strengthening the cooperative federalism in the country and will make all out efforts to evolve as much consensus as possible in implementing of GST. Replying to the various queries of the Members, the Minister said it will help in reducing tax on tax and will be beneficial to the consumers, common man and the country at large. During the meeting, some committee members demanded that the government should come out with a white paper on GST, giving details on how much revenue will go to the Centre and States. They also suggested, the Centre should create a permanent body for allocation of funds to the States.
