Civil Aviation Minister Praful Patel has said that the government is open to infuse more equity in Air India provided the national carrier manages to improve its performance. Talking to reporters in Mumbai on Sunday, Mr Patel said, the airliner has already received 800 crore from the government, and 1200 crore more will be given this financial year. He said, there are no plans to either reduce manpower or slash salaries of around 30,000 employees of national carrier. Earlier, Mr Patel, along with Civil Aviation Secretary Madhav Nambiar, attended the Air India board meeting which discussed the company's proposed five-year turnaround plan. The meeting was also attended by Air India Chairman Arvind Jadhav, Chief Operating Officer Gustav Baldauf, and four independent directors.
