Govt open to all opinions on J&K: Chidambaram

The Home Minister on Saturday said that the government is committed to find a solution through quiet talks with every shade of political opinion in Jammu and Kashmir. Condemning the attack on Fazal Haq Qureshi Mr. P. Chidambaram said that the right response at this hour would be not to be cowed down by these violent acts or allow the fear to interrupt the process of quiet diplomacy. Mr. Chidambaram said that he welcomes the statement of Mirwaiz and others who have vowed to continue their efforts to find a peaceful solution through talks with the Centre. He said that the attack on Mr. Qureshi was a cowardly attempt by those who do not wish that the problems of Jammu and Kashmir should be resolved in a peaceful manner. Mr. Chidambaram said that he is deeply distressed by the attack and hoped that Mr. Qureshi who is battling for his life in a hospital will recover.
