The government has notified the inclusion of coronary stents in the National List of Essential Medicines.  The decision will help make these life-saving medical devices more affordable in the country.  The Union Health Ministry has given approval in this regard based on the recommendations by an expert committee set up to review the inclusion of stents in the list. <br />''<br />''<span style="color: #222222;">The approval has been given in two categories – Bare Metal Stents and Drug Eluting Stents (DES) which include metallic DES and bioresorbable vascular scaffold and biodegradable stents. Now, the National Pharmaceutical Pricing Authority will fix the price of coronary stents. </span><br />
