The financial Services Secretary R Gopalan said in Mumbai on Tuesday that the merger of individual banks will not be forced and no time frame has been set for the consolidation process in the banking system.He said that mergers of state-run banks should be done with a view to bring in good synergies between mutual interests of concerned entities.Speaking at the Bancon conference in Mumbai, Mr Gopalan said that banks will have to take into account various aspects such as economic scales, optimization of human resource issues and higher operating efficiencies while executing the merger moves.
