The government is not considering to ban future trading in agricultural commodities. The minister of state for consumer affairs, food and public distribution Prof. K V thomas said this in a written reply in the Rajya Sabha today. He said the Forward Market Commission (FMC), the regulator for commodity futures markets, keeps a close watch on the price trends of all the commodities traded on the commodity future exchanges. Prof. Thomas said that the Commission has been taking a number of measures to check excessive speculation that impacts price volatility.
