Govt not averse to discussion on FDI under any rule; PM says, UPA has required strength

With DMK extending support to the UPA on FDI issue, government indicated that it is not averse to discussion in Parliament on FDI in retail. Parliamentary Affairs Minister Kamal Nath today reiterated that government is not averse to discussion under any rules.

Emerging from the UPA co-ordination committee meeting the Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh expressed confidence that the government has the required strength in Parliament in case of voting on FDI issue. He was replying to a question after the meeting.

Parliamentary Affairs Minister Kamal Nath said the UPA allies have assured that they are firmly behind the government on any discussion. Mr. Nath said that he will convey the decision of the government to the Lok Sabha speaker to take a decision.
