The government today assured the Lok Sabha that it will go ahead with the caste based census and the problems in implementing this decision will be sorted out. Responding to the concerns of the members who raised the issue in the House, the Finance Minister and the Leader of the House Mr. Pranab Mukherjee said that the Cabinet has already adopted a resolution to this effect.He reiterated that the census will be carried out as per the agreed format among the political parties. The issue was raised in the House by Sharad Yadav of the JDU and several other leaders including Samajwadi Party Chief, Mulayam Singh Yadav, T.R. Balu of DMK and Dara Singh Chauhan of BSP joined him seeking early completion of the census. They highlighted the importance of caste census in addressing the problems of the poor and downtrodden section of society.
