Govt: NMDC needs to increase production to meet future raw material demand

Government has said that to meet future raw material demand in the country the National Mineral Development Corporation, NMDC needs to increase its production from the present level. After reviewing the performance of the company in New Delhi today the Steel Minister, Mr. Beni Prasad Verma advised the company to complete its mining projects in India and abroad at a faster pace. During the year 2011-12 the company registered a growth of about 7 percent as production of iron ore reached 27.26 million tonnes at compare to 25.16 million tonnes during previous year. Secretary Steel D.R.S Chaudhary indicated that in order to complete its upcoming steel plant projects in Nagarnar as per scheule, NMDC needs to speed up execution activities. NMDC also signed an MOU with RINL for developing slerry pipe line of about 450 kms. from Jagdalpur to Vishakhapattnam and pellet plan at Vishakhapattnam.
