Government is considering to allow e-Postal Ballot System and Proxy voting to Overseas electors as an alternative voting option. The e-Postal Ballot System envisages making available blank ballots electronically to the NRI voters and thereafter return to the same by normal post while proxy voting, would allow such voters to appoint a proxy after following certain formalities and exercise his or her franchise. <br/><br/>This information was given in a written reply in the Rajya Sabha today by Law Minister Sadananda Gowda. He, however, did not give any time frame to implement it saying the proposal requires amendment in the Representation of the People Act.
