Govt mulls on to increase intake of women in armed forces: Defence Minister

Defence Minister Manohar Parrikar has said that his Ministry is considering increasing intake of women into armed forces.<br/><br/>Speaking at an interactive session on Changes in Defence Sectors : Changing Role and Opportunities for women in New Delhi on Monday, Mr Parrikar said, in the coming years the armed forces will see larger participation of women. He said, Ministry is also looking at the matter of posting women on board warships and in the National Defence Academy.<br/><br/>Mr Parrikar said, empowerment of women is necessary for the progress of the society.<br/><br/>He asked the women entrepreneurs to come forward to take part in the Make in India initiative in the Defence sector.<br/><br/>The Minister said, FDI in Defence has brought in many opportunities.
