The Government is considering implementation of quota in faculty recruitments for SC, ST and OBCs with respect to the Indian Institutes of Management (IIMs) and the Indian Institute of Science (IIS), Bangalore. Minister of State for Human Resource Development, Shashi Tharoor told this to the Lok Sabha in a written reply today. He said the Government had instructed Indian Institutes of Technology (IITs) and Central Universities to implement quota. The Minister said the reservations for SCs, STs, and OBCs in faculty recruitments at the level of Assistant Professors and Lecturers in IIMs and the IIS, Bangalore is presently under consideration.
