Govt moves motion for suspension of 7 Cong, 4 TDP MPs for LS disruption

The Lok Sabha was adjourned for the second time till 12.45 hours today as the government moved a motion to suspend 11 members for continuously raising the Telangana issue. Moving the motion, Parliamentary Affairs Minister Kamal Nath said these members should be suspended for the rest of the Monsoon session to ensure smooth functioning of the House. He said the House is not able to transact any business since the beginning of the session. Leader of Opposition,Mrs Sushma Swaraj strongly protested against the motion and said that her party is in favour of Telangana state. But, she regretted that the manner in which the ruling Congress had announced the creation of a separate state is not acceptable. The House witnessed heated exchanges between the treasury and the opposition members over the issue even as the agitating members, seven from Congress and four from Telugu Desam Party, were in the well of the House.
As soon as the House re-assembled at noon, several opposition members demanded a statement by Prime Minister on the missing files related to coal block allocations. Responding to this, Mr Kamal Nath said the government has nothing to hide on the matter and the Coal Minister is ready to make a statement. He said Prime Minister can intervene in the matter if a discussion takes place on the issue.
