Govt moves motion for suspension of 7 Cong, 4 TDP MPs for LS disruption

The Lok Sabha was adjourned for the second time till 12.45 hours today as the government moved a motion to suspend 11 members for continuously raising the Telangana issue. Moving the motion, Parliamentary Affairs Minister Kamal Nath said these members should be suspended for the rest of the Monsoon session to ensure smooth functioning of the House. He said the House is not able to transact any business since the beginning of the session. Leader of Opposition,Mrs Sushma Swaraj strongly protested against the motion and said that her party is in favour of Telangana state. But, she regretted that the manner in which the ruling Congress had announced the creation of a separate state is not acceptable. The House witnessed heated exchanges between the treasury and the opposition members over the issue even as the agitating members, seven from Congress and four from Telugu Desam Party, were in the well of the House.
As soon as the House re-assembled at noon, several opposition members demanded a statement by Prime Minister on the missing files related to coal block allocations. Responding to this, Mr Kamal Nath said the government has nothing to hide on the matter and the Coal Minister is ready to make a statement. He said Prime Minister can intervene in the matter if a discussion takes place on the issue.

Earlier both Houses of Parliament were adjourned, the Lok Sabha till noon and the Rajya Sabha for 15 minutes over the missing files relating to coal block allocations. Opposition members demanded a statement from the Prime Minister on the issue.
As soon the Lok Sabha assembled, the BJP members supported by others, raised the issue and rushed into the well of the House. Members from Andhra Pradesh trooped into the well in support of their demand for United Andhra Pradesh.
The Rajya Sabha witnessed an unprecedented uproar on the missing files issue with the treasury members clashing with the opposition. The issue was raised by Ravi Shankar Prasad of the BJP. He was supported by Dr V Maitreyan of the AIADMK. Ram Gopal Yadav of the Samajwadi Party demanded the Prime Minister’s response on the rupee devaluation Later the Leader of Opposition, Arun Jaitley said, the opposition was not satisfied with the Coal Minister Sriprakash Jaiswal’s statement on Tuesday on the missing files relating to coal block allocations. He said the opposition has been insisting on the Prime Minister’s intervention. He said, since Dr Manmohan Singh is in the House, he should clarify the position. Responding to this Minister of State for Parliamentary Affairs Rajiv Shukla suggested that the members can seek clarifications on the missing files and the Prime Minister canintervene if required.
