Govt may set up regulatory board to regulate nano products

The country is all set to have a Nanotechnology Regulatory Board to regulate industrial nanotech products used in everyday life. Chairman of the Nano Mission Council Professor C.N. Rao said this at the International Conference on Nanoscience and technology in Mumbai. He said the Board could be formed by next month. Prof.Rao said that Indian industries are producing various nanotechnology products such as water filters, biomedical products, several chemicals, cosmetics and paints. In view of the wide use of Nanotechnology, the Nano Mission Council is in the process of forming guidelines to regulate the quality of products for their safety and benefits to the society. <br/><br/>The mission on nano-science and technology was set up in May 2007 under the Department of Science and Technology. Over 615 delegates, including 70 from abroad are participating in the three-day international conference deliberating on technology of medicine among other things.<br/>
