Govt may infuse fresh funds to revive position of Air India

Civil Aviation Minister today said that government may infuse fresh funds to revive the position of Air India. Talking to reporters in New Delhi, Mr. Ravi said that empowered Group of Ministers will take the final call on the issue in their meeting scheduled next week. He expressed hope that Air India will be on its feet by the next six months.

The aviation Minister also urged states to reduce on aviation fuel to lessen burden on the Airlines. He added that government is formulating a long term strategy to make the Airline profitable. AIR Correspondent reports that the government has already injected around two thousand crore rupees into the fund-starved national carrier in the past two financial years. The airline has to repay a debt around 43 thousand crore rupees.
