The government says, it may take a decision on the Parikh Panel recommendations of freeing the oil prices before the beginning of the Budget session. It however says, there is no proposal to raise the prices of petroleum products for now and the cabinet committee on Prices will take any decision on the issue.The Petroleum Minister Murli Deora told this reporters in New Delhi today. The expert group has called for freeing petrol and diesel prices and raising LPG rates by 100 rupees a cylinder besides kerosene by 6 rupees a litre.AIR correspondent reports that Minister of state for petroleum Jitin Prasada has hinted that the government may not accept the report in totality to protect the common man's interest.The suggestion to free the petrol and diesel prices from administered mechanism has come at a time when food inflation has touched 17.56 per cent .This has hit the common man hard . He has been feeling the heat of rising prices for quite some time now despite a series of measures by the government to control them. In this back drop in all likelihood prices of the petroleum products may not be hiked. The issue concerning masses is bound to figure in the Congress working committee meeting tomorrow and the Budget session of Parliament later in this month.
