The government will bring a new law to promote and regulate medical devices industry. Addressing a conference on medical technology in New Delhi today, Chemicals and Fertilisers Minister Ananth Kumar said the Government is considering to introduced the Medical Devices and Technology (Promotion and Regulation) bill in the winter session of Parliament. The Minister said, India is already offering software services for medical devices industries globally and have potential to become manufacturing hub for the sector. Mr Kumar expressed concern over the low usage of drugs in the population below poverty line. He also reiterated his demand for a separate ministry for pharmaceuticals and medical devices.
