Human Resources Development Minister Prakash Javadekar has said that government is making all-out efforts to upgrade the quality of higher education in the country. <br/><br/>Addressing a press conference at the end of a 65th meeting of Central Advisory Board of Education in New Delhi today, Mr Javadekar said, the government supports more autonomy for the educational institutions. The Minister said, Centre is encouraging students to take education loans and deserving students will not be denied loans and scholarships. <br/><br/>Replying to a media query, Mr Javadekar said, online courses will be started soon in different disciplines. He said, only top institutions will be given permissions and the courses will only be available for non-technical streams. He said the format of online courses will be different from correspondence one. <br/><br/>Asked about full autonomy to IIMs, he said, IIMs will be made fully independent by 1st of February and the same will be done for IITs also as well colleges. <br/><br/>During the CABE meeting, Mr Javadekar highlighted the need for reforms in education so that existing mismatches between education and employment and social relevance can be addressed. He said the thrust areas are quality, autonomy, research and innovation.
