Union Finance Minister Arun Jaitley today said that the government is making an all-out effort to restore the credibility of Indian economy. Speaking at the 80th anniversary celebrations of Reserve Bank in Mumbai, Mr. Jaitley said the government is easing various processes and procedures to attract more funds into the economy. Mr. Jaitley informed that the government is trying to rationalise the tax structure so as to make it more non-adversarial and is looking forward to introduce Goods and Services Tax soon. Talking about the government's flagship Pradhan Mantri Jan Dhan Yojana, Mr. Jaitley said theprogramme has been a tremendous success and credited the entire banking system for their efforts. The minister, however added that the challenge now lies in making these accounts operational and also to provide social security like accident and life insurance, and pensions schemes, to Pradhan Mantri Jan Dhan Yojana account holders.
