Govt looking to ease regulatory hurdles at municipal, panchayat levels: Sitharaman

Commerce and Industry Minister Nirmala Sitharaman has said that the government is now looking to ease regulatory hurdles at the municipality and panchayat levels. Addressing the India Economic Summit in New Delhi, Ms Sitharaman said, there is a need to work harder with states to remove all regulatory hurdles still prevailing at the lower level. She said, it will be the focus for the Government in the next four to five months to ensure that businesses feel that ease is coming in their activities. The Minister said, states are now working with the Centre to achieve 8 per cent growth. She said, government wants to ensure that whatever investment is coming into the country actually translates into rapid productions and exports lead to creation of good jobs in the country to achieve higher growth. Speaking at the summit, Chief Executive Officer of Niti Aayog Amitabh Kant said, the only way India can catch up with the world is through use of digital technology to leapfrog. He said, India needs to bring about radical restructuring of its health and education system to grow at a sustainable rate of 8 per cent. Over 500 business and political leaders, including top policymakers and CEOs, are participating in the two-day summit.
