Govt. likely to introduce Women's reservation Bill in Winter session

The Government proposes to introduce the Women’s Reservation Bill in the forthcoming winter session of Parliament set to commence in November. Briefing newspersons in Chennai this evening, Union Minister of State for Planning and Parliamentary Affairs Mr. V Narayanasamy said that the Government also proposes to introduce the Foreign Universities Bill, the Population Stabilisation Bill and a Bill to regulate capitation fees in the higher education sector. The Food Security Bill which is presently being considered by the Group of Ministers headed by Mr Pranab Mukherjee and UPA chairperson is also set to be introduced. Commending Tamil Nadu for the implementation of various developmental schemes, the Minister said that the state has received the highest share under the MNREGS. On the issue of Sri Lankan Tamils, the Minister said the Centre is willing to help in the rehabilitation of the affected people. Speaking about the naxal problem, the Minister said that the Planning Commission has recommended the implementation of variuos development schemes in naxal affected areas.
