Finance Minister Arun Jaitley today said that the government will try to introduce the Goods Services Tax , GST Bill in the current winter session of the Parliament. Talking to the reporter in New Delhi, Mr Jailtley said that the final call will be taken on it after proper consultation with the Empowered Committee of the States Finance ministers.
Mr Jaitley is likely to hold a meeting with the State Finance Minister in the Mid- December to iron-out all the hurdles before the implementation of the GST. Revenue neutral GST rate and threshold limit for imposing the levy are the major issues between center and state governments.
The sub-committee on GST has suggested that the revenue neutral rate of GST be pegged at about 27 per cent but the states are yet to decide on it. The states government have been demanding that petroleum, alcohol and tobacco should be kept out of the purview of GST.
