Government is likely to finalise its response to the Telangana issue soon. The ruling party leaders and senior cabinet ministers have been holding regular discussions since last two days to finalise the response to the demand of carving out a separate state from Andhra Pradesh. The Prime Minister Dr Manmohan Singh and Congress President Mrs. Sonia Gandhi today held discussions with the Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh. Union Home Minister Mr. P Chidambaram was also present in the meeting. Senior Congress leader and Union Minister Verappa Moily who is also in charge of Andhra Pradesh also held discussions with the top party leaders. Dr Manmohan Singh, who arrived from Russia last night, held a separate meeting with a couple of Congress MPs from the Telangana. Earlier this week, senior Congress leaders held close door discussions with party president Mrs. Sonia Gandhi on the issue. The Andhra Pradesh Government has authorised the Party high command to take a final decision on the issue.<br/><br/>In a related development, both houses of Parliament witnessed noisy scenes over the Telengana issue. Cutting across party lines, members expressed concerns over the deteriorating health of TRS Chief K Chandrashekar Rao. The members along with the Lok Sabha speaker Meira Kumar appealed to the TRS chief to end his fast. Leader of opposition and BJP leader L K Advani expressed concern over his health and also about the Telengana issue. The occasion was also utilised by some of these leaders to demand that the Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh convene an all-party meeting and intervene immediately to resolve the issue in view of the highly volatile situation in Andhra Pradesh. Soon after the question hour the minister of sate for Parliamentary affairs Mr. Narayansami assured the house that the government is applying its mind on the sensitive issue. The issue of the demand for separate Telangana state shook the Rajya Sabha on Wednesday with the opposition BJP members creating a hue and cry which led to the adjournment of the House for 15 minutes. The issue was initially raised in the Zero Hour by BJP's M Venkaiah Naidu who demanded an answer from the UPA government over the worsening condition of TRS chief who is on a fast unto death. Meanwhile, with fasting TRS chief K Chandrasekhara Rao's health deteriorating, the Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh enquired about his condition.
