The Government is likely to take a final decision on allowing foreign investment in multi-brand retail trade within the next six months. This was revealed by Chief Economic Advisor Kaushik Basu in an interview to a private news channel. Mr Basu said that the opening up of the retail trade to foreign investment will generate millions of jobs alongwith benefitting the farmers. AIR Correspondent reports that the foreign direct investment in multi-brand retailing is completely banned in the country at present.
