The Union Labour Minister Mallikarjuna Kharge has informed in Bangalore today that Industrial Dispute Act will be amended in the forthcoming Budget Session to enable workers to have a say in the closure of any Industry. Kharge pointed out that employers took unilateral decision to close the Industry and this was putting employees into hardship. Hence the Act will be amended to make employees to have a say in any decision to close the Industry, he said. Similarly, the minister added, that ESI Act will be amended to enable unorganized sector to avail health check up services in ESI hospitals. He said his ministry has taken steps to enhance retrenchment compensation to the workers. He disclosed that the foundation stone will be laid for a 1600 crore rupees Super Speciality ESI Hospital in Gulbarga on April 1st. This will provide holistic treatment to the people of north Karnataka, Kharge pointed out.
