Government has launched the Shoreline-Study Maps of Gujarat and Puducherry to assist the study of ever changing shoreline of the country. Launching the maps, Environment Minister Jairam Ramesh expressed concern that most of the changes on the coastline are on account of structures which have been developed along the foreshore of the country. The Minister added most of these developments are not compatible with the dynamic nature of the shoreline.A new website for documentation and dissemination of information with regard to the Integrated Coastal Zone Management Project was also launched.
